Water Tower
There is still a lot of Water Towers in Riga.
Almost all of them look the same as this one in Pardaugava area.
Water tank is on top, and should be built higher than any building around to provide water supply.

Beautiful water tower it deserves its name of castle.
There are a lot of water towers in the USA as well. I didn't understand how they worked until I watched a documentary on them recently. Brilliant things these towers.
