Gaismas tilti

Gaismas tilti (Bridges of Light) is the country wide event devoted to 90 days left before the Independence Day of Latvia.
All bridges in Latvia were illuminated all night long by candle flames.

reminds me a lot of the piers here in san francisco, they just light up at night in the most glorious fashion.
i remember when i was about 7 we had some people from riga stay with us and they kept telling me, basically everyday, how pretty the city is. even though i haven't yet been there, your photos really make it hard to resist visiting... maybe next year ill pop through the baltic.

I wonder who had to clean up those candles afterwards? Or were they just left there indefinitely?
