Babylon
Babylon is a recently opened club in Old Riga at Kalku street. In fact it is the same infamous former club Roxy.
Everything is kept changeless, e.g. design of arenas, gloomy stuff, overpriced drinks and even the atmosphere.
I guess "splendid" club's owners decided to make rebranding because of many accuses of cheating.

Most popular with college students and 20 years olds?
Here in Finland newspapers have recently written several times about the scams, robberies etc. that have been made against (Finnish) tourists in Riga.
There have been so many of them that even the ministry of foreign affairs has contacted the Latvian authorities.

Be careful if going to Babylon. Again last weekend several Finns were cheated there, and they were not so drunk. This place has changed names for several times because of cheating visitors. Looks good, but...be careful and pay only by cash, pay immediately on desk, do not offer drinks to girls who will hang around you and ask for it.
"Deceptive" is a good word for this place.
A friend and I went into Babylon a few days ago. Free entry, and the drinks were not particularly expensive. What really caught the eye, though, were the girls. Beautiful, and it seemed strange that they were unattached. The place was pretty empty, but the guy-to-girl ratio was very much in our favour.
So we get talking to two of them, thinking we'd hit the jackpot. Ha!
We leave the nightclub and wind up in the pub next door - on the suggestion of the girls. The barmaid wanted 161 LVL (that must be near £200) for four drinks. I told the girl I needed to withdraw money, and we ran like hell.
Looking back on it, we had a great night, but it could've been very different.
Intersting story Peter. We were there 2 days ago (Monday, 02 Nov 09) with three russian girls we picked up on the street right infront of the Babylon. We came out of the Bar right opposite of Babylon and saw these girl going into the Babylon and 5mins later out again. They were not very hot or even bitchy dressed but as normal as a girl is dressed with the age of 20. Earlier we saw those "specialgirls" who were damn hot and wanted us to go inside. But those three weren't dressed like that. After a short conversation we tried the Babylon, later we went to the Enigma next door and finally into the bar between Enigma and babylon. We had some fun time at the beginning that ended in a very strange situation for everyone (the girls and us), because they were so drunk. There was no harm or anything else even with a (by us already known) pimp I was very rude to him, nothing happend. The whole night just cost us around 220 LVL which is not that much compared to the 9 hour of drinking like hell (all payed in cash). The drinks, the girls ordered, where always around 4 to 6 LVL (Jägermeister with RedBull - what un ugly drink).
We ended in three Clubs that where all blacklisted (as I found out today), but either we where as lucky as hell or the girls really were 2 russian girls from russia that met there russian friend who lives in Jurmala (makes 3 girls in total) and just wanted to party in Riga (= no bitches). We don't know and we never gonna find out. But we don't care that much, cuz we had a hell of fun too...
