iki

iki is another cheap Lithuanian retail shop, like Maxima. The legend says that iki in Lithuanian means bye :)
This shop is located next to tramway 4 terminal station, a very strategic point of Imanta neighbourhood, hence it has changed many owners and names during past 20 years.
For example the area around shop is still nicknamed after former shop name Nelda.

Here in Italy are opening many kinds of these retail shop. Quality is good and it's a good way to save some money during crisis situation;)
iki has shops to Italy as well? :)
No! Just different names.
"iki" indeed means "bye" in Lithuanian! :-)
Hi !
I'm french, I was in Lithuania in 2009. I don't know if I am right but Iki is pronounced "iké" or at least it sounds like this when people pronounced it. It's odd but it's a nice that I use now in France instead of Bye or Ciao.
I confirm that "Iki" in Lithuanian obviously means bye. So, why to say that it is a legend ? It's a fact!
I don't understand also why you say that IKI is "cheap Lithuanian retail shop". It's the same quality and price than MAXIMA or RIMI, with maybe more French products because the owners are from Belgian origin. They opened the firts supermarket in Lithuania in 1991. They manage (at least in Lithuania) hard discount shops under the name of CENTO.
Best regards
the same kind of legend is that labas means hello ;)
