New Roads

Coming back from Vilnius to Riga I see a huge progress of new developments around the city, including this new overpass next to Z-Towers, between Zunda river and Martin Cemetery and over Daugavgrivas iela.
Does anybody know where it is possible to see the final presentation of this road completed?

Agenskalns Casino

Casino in Agenskalns
I always feel sorry, when I write about casinos, especially which are built in a very poor areas of the city.
Estonian company Casino Olympic has a low of slot machines around the town, some of them has title Lounge, and some of them has Optibet representative, the only Latvian totalizator company.
Have you ever put a bet on sport?

In fact it is one of the hundreds Riga casinos. Those regular people are addicted to gambling and can't do anything about it, just spend the whole monthly wage in one night.

Saint Albert's Catholic Church

Rīgas Svētā Alberta baznīca (Riga St. Albert's Roman Catholic Church) is built on Liepajas iela in 1901, in the year when Riga became 700 years old.
I guess it is named after Bishop Albert, the founder of Riga, although he was never canonized.
Saint Albert's church is the biggest Catholic church in Latvia, it is crowned with baroque towers.
Regular divine services are in Latvian and Polish languages.

Archives

Latvian Archive
Latvijas Valsts vēstures arhīvs (Latvian State Historical Archives) is located in a massive building at intersection of Slokas street and Kalnciema street since 1930.
The building itself was built in 1908 as city pawnshop, hence it has such a huge size.

Stradiņi

Stradini
Stradiņa slimnīca (Stradins' Hospital) was named in honor of Pauls Stradins.
Despite quite old interior, this hospital has the best reputation among Latvian medicine facilities. It is prestigious place (if it is possible to say like that) to stay while you have health problems.

See also First Riga Hospital, which is going to be closed soon because of financial crisis in Latvia.
