Probably this will be really useful information for those of You who are planing to visit Riga really soon.
Riga isn't too big city comparing to other capitals in Europe. Most of tourist attractions are concentrated in the center of Riga - Old Town.
But if you'll check my previous posts you'll see a lot of great places outside the center. How to get there? Sure, you can use public transport.
But if You can afford to rent a car - go for it!
I recommend to use www.rigacars.com car rental services. You can easily find perfect car just for your budget! You can find any small, simple and cheap car, for example, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Getz, etc.
Or You can go for luxury class and rent SUV's or even cabrio, like, Land Rover Range Rover Sport or BMW 730.
Their office is situated just on the way from the airport to the city center. Also they can pick you up at the airport with your rental car, if you want to! Their professional staff will always try to fulfill all your needs!
The best thing about them (and that's why I made this article) is that they offer limousine rental in Riga. OK, you'll say, what's special about this limo rental service?
You can rent a really rare Cadillac Escalade Limo for some special events of your life (wedding, bachelor parties etc.).
I don't know specific price, but you can simply request the price by phone or email. Read more »
Currently the airport of Daugavpils is a simple abandoned Soviet airfield 12 km from the 2nd largest city in Latvia.
According to official information the Daugavpils airport opening is scheduled to 2013.
Liepāja International Airport is one of 3 major airports in Latvia, but currently it has no regular flights.
I couldn't miss the opportunity to take photo of this small airport on my way from Pavilosta to Lithuanian border
There are two grass airfields near Cesis town, which are few hundreds away from each other.
The old military aerodrome can be access from road P20 and it is decorated with Antonov An-2 aircraft.

I'm already feeling sorry for putting again the picture plane, but not city :) In fact the photo was taken in Riga :) Bombardier Q400NextGen is one of the newest planes in airBaltic fleet, which is being used for short flights, e.g. to Vilnius.
Huge Boeings and small airplanes always fascinate me. I can watch them landing and taking off infinitely long. Actually there is even a legal status of this hobby called planespotting :) The best place for aircraft spotting are top floors of Panorama Plaza. Does anybody rent out a flat there? :)
Like many people in Riga, I often think about moving to somewhere else. Especially when I see this Boeing 767 of Uzbekistan Airways, which connects Riga to New York directly, I start to think about crazy things...
Usually I see similar pictures in music clip scenes about some famous American rockstars, but I didn't expect to see such abundance in Riga :) In this hangar are five small private planes like Cessna 172 and additional free space for the sixth one.
Siemens office and the brick water tower next to one of the parking lots in Riga Airport. The biggest invention of Siemens was the telegraph and in the mid of 19th century Werner von Siemens got an order from Petersburg to commute cities around Russian Empire. It was the first international order of Siemens.
Riga was one of the first cities which got direct telegraph line with Saint Petersburg thankfully to Siemens.
Spilve Field is being used not only as airfield, but also for agricultural production. I am not sure how these haystacks are going to be used, because there is almost no farmers in Latvia.
Heavy shower flooded Riga today; the storm torn branches off the trees, so many streets, roads became blocked. Thankfully it was very short rain, hence the traffic was limited just for some hours. The picture was taken this Sunday afternoon on the exit from Riga Airport.
After many scandals in media regarding dishonest taxi drivers in Riga, airBaltic presented a new brand BalticTaxi. A new cab company is promoting itself as the fairest taxi in Riga.
Thousands of flights are cancelled because of Volcanic ash over Nordic countries, including Latvia. More than 20,000 passengers get stuck in Riga airport, which is closed for all flights since yesterday evening.
Vulcan hazard experts say that ash clouds may block all flights for few weeks and will continue to affect some flights for at least several months.
Although airport officials say that air traffic will be resumed tomorrow morning, on 17th of April.
UPDATED on 17th of April afternoon: All flights are still cancelled (see date on picture)
Enjoy the Symphony of Riga for 87 EUR. I love airBaltic, because it is nearly the only thing that reminds of Riga outside of Latvia. I found this ad in Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
Ryanair Boeing is being refueled by an aviation fuel truck Mercedes-Benz while passengers are boarding. No time to waste. 89% of Ryanair's flights are on-time! I guess the rest 11% are simply canceled flights :)
