Čilija Pica (Chili Pizza) is the largest pizza chain in Latvia, although it is originally Lithuanian company. It is famous for relatively low prices and good quality of food. Some of Čili pizzerias are open day and night and serving alcohol, hence Čilik could be considered as part of Riga nightlife or even morning life when everybody comes here after parties to have some pizza :)
This photo was taken in Bernu Pasaule shopping center, which is almost fully occupied by Gerkens un Partneri, one of the cheapest clothes retailer in Latvia. Cheap retailer doesn't mean that this shop is something like T.K. Maxx or Marshalls, because all products here are one brand only - "Noname" P.S. Bērnu apģērbi in Latvian means Clothes for Kids
Depo is the largest shopping center for construction, building, garden and other house stuff. It is country famous for low prices since its opening in 2004.
iki is another cheap Lithuanian retail shop, like Maxima. The legend says that iki in Lithuanian means bye :) This shop is located next to tramway 4 terminal station, a very strategic point of Imanta neighbourhood, hence it has changed many owners and names during past 20 years. For example the area around shop is still nicknamed after former shop name Nelda.
Agroapgāde (Agro supplies) is a company which provides agricultural resources, materials and maintenance. The building itself was built during latest years of Soviet epoch and is a good example of Soviet architecture. By the way, this complex building, located at 451 Maskavas street, is also one of the cheapest hotels within Riga borders. The price for staying varies between 2 EUR and 10 EUR per night.
Hotel Bergi is closed down since 2008, but it looks like it is still open. From a distance of course. At some point Berģi was a popular destination for couples with a passionate desires. Despite its cheapness and remoteness here was a good restaurant with panoramic view. It is located just next to Sigulda Highway, hence it could easily take the title of the first Riga Motel.
Samurajs (Samurai) is one of the many sushi bars in Riga. This particular one is famous for being radiatively cheap sushi place in Old Town. It is located on Kungu iela.
У Васи (Vasya's, could be understood as Basil's) is a shop and cheap bar located on Miglas iela (Foggy street), the most unpleasant street of Bolderaja neighborhood. This place is infamous for often fights, knifing and other crime.
Super Netto is a discounter chain and the branch of Rimi. Super Netto shops have the reputation as the cheapest shops in Riga. See also Maxima, the Lithuanian discounter.
La Belle Epoque (more famous as French Bar) is the friendliest and the cheapest place in Riga, which is overcrowded every day except Sunday. Why? Just because it is closed on Sundays! 99% of visitors are foreigners, students and foreign students. French Bar is the best place to practice any language. Multi-cultural, free and easy atmosphere makes this place really unique for Riga. French Bar is located on Maza Monetu iela in Old town.
Mazā Monētu iela (Little Coin street) is one of the most famous streets among students in Riga. Two the most cheapest places are located here - La Belle Epoque (aka French Bar) and recently opened Celsijs. Ultra low prices in both places make the street wet from the spilled beer (literally :)). During rush hours (the middle of the night) it is impossible to get through the street. Hundreds of students, alternative people, bums and foreigners gather here. It is unique place because it is not forbidden to travel with the same glass of beer from one place to another one.
