Rīgas bērnu dzelzceļš (Riga Children's railway) was opened in 1956 in Mežaparks forest. It was used mainly by young railway students for education purposes, as well as attraction for children.
In 1997 the railway was closed and few years later disasembled.

Ice Skating is a traditional winter entertainment for Riga. A lot of Ice skating rinks are placed in town. For example this one is located at Strelnieku laukums.
This photo was taken in Bernu Pasaule shopping center, which is almost fully occupied by Gerkens un Partneri, one of the cheapest clothes retailer in Latvia. Cheap retailer doesn't mean that this shop is something like T.K. Maxx or Marshalls, because all products here are one brand only - "Noname" P.S. Bērnu apģērbi in Latvian means Clothes for Kids
Rīgas Cirks (Riga Circus) was opened here on Merkela street in far 1888. Circus is located in the very center and this area is one of the most busiest places in Riga. Interesting fact is that Riga Circus is the only one permanent circus in all three Baltic States.
Christmas Market next to Dome Cathedral. Every year hand-knitted socks, lather wallets, soap, cookies and other stuff is being sold here as Christmas gifts.
Latvijas Leļļu teātris (Latvian Puppet Theater) was opened in postwar Riga in the building of former cinema Radio Modern. All shows are always performed in both languages Latvian and Russian which reflects one of theater's mission. The red banner runs as follows Christmas shows in Puppet theater, so don't forget to bring your child here ;)
Steam is the recently opened club in south part of Old Town at Kungu iela. In fact it is the same Nautilus club, which had resided in this building previously. Also Steam organizes daytime disco which is very popular among teenagers, who are not allowed in nightclubs.
September - October is the annual flood season in Riga. Sometimes floods are quite heavy like flood in 2008. But more often Riga gets lucky and only areas next to the sea get flooded for a couple of days.
13 krēsli (13 chairs) is brasserie in Old town on Dom Square. The Hanseatic buildings around make 13 chairs a lovely and favourite place for many locals and foreigners. The terrace is busy all summer season, but now they are going to close it down for cold winter season.
Today is the 60th birthday of Zebra Crossing. Can you imagine? :) Not many Rigans knows that zebra on Aspazijas blvd between Kalku and Brivibas is unique because of its width. On the photos is depicted a kind of flash mob. People gathered next to our famous zebra to chalk some greeting writings.
