Bricked Ģertrūdes

Bricked Gertrudes
Like most of the Riga Center's streets, Gertrudes iela is also paved with the historical brick, which is quite annoying if you do travel with a bicycle (again criticism :))

Foundation Pit

Foundation Pit
Huge foundation pit of one of the buildings in Riga center.
For now, I have no idea what is going to be built between Dzirnavu and Blaumana streets.
Let's keep eye on it :)

Empty Space - Monthly theme

space left after Rigas Sporta pils
This is the empty space that left after Rīgas Sporta pils (Palace of Sport) demolition.
Sport Palace was mainly Ice Hockey venue, which handled many sport and music events from 1970 till it 2007.
I have personal feeling to this place, because I spent a lot of time here during my childhood. My mother used to work as technologist in Sport Palace.
Now there is a project to build office building, but it is frozen for undefined time.

This photo is part Monthly theme day which is Empty today.

Sash!

Unfortunately open-air concerts not protected from nature pranks.
Empty chairs during Sash! concert at Ogres Estrāde (Ogre stage) is result of rain, but not a marketing failure
It should be noted that despite bad weather Sash! gathered several thousands of people.

Cold Sea

Despite the warm weather last days the sea is still cold and empty of people.
Far away you could see Riga Lighthouse on Daugava river mouth.
Photograph was taken at Daugavgrivas beach, Bolderaja neighbourhood.

Strip Bar - Monthly theme

Riga Strip Bars
About 2-3 Years ago Riga was still very famous for its beautiful and cheap girls.
Many foreigners came to Riga just for sex, so Riga became like a big strip bar, where you could take any girl.
Since that time government made a lot of social programs to extirpate that.
Now Riga girls are afraid to hang out with foreigners, because everybody other will think that they are whores. Success.
So strip bars are empty like this one in Old Riga.
Even chair for invite-master girl is empty :)
BTW, this strip bar is one of the blacklisted places in Riga.
