One of the very first photos in this blog, was the picture of a place, where New Library is going to be built.
Almost 7 years has been passed, and here it is, the new Latvian National Library aka Latvijas Nacionālā bibliotēka.
There are still some works going on, so it is not officially open yet.
Also, there are other photographs of LNB building taken from the same spot during the 7 years.
Currently the airport of Daugavpils is a simple abandoned Soviet airfield 12 km from the 2nd largest city in Latvia.
According to official information the Daugavpils airport opening is scheduled to 2013.
The building of new Sea Monitoring Tower in Apšuciems, which is located at Kuplā priede camping site.
Check the previous stop in my seaside route Ragaciems and Engure Harbor.
The third extraordinary building design from Any Mann. (Viesnīca in Latvian means Hotel)
The Shark Hotel in the middle of Daugava River between Stone and Cable bridges.
How much would you pay for staying in Riga Hotel with such design?
Today is Easter Sunday for Orthodox Christians. Christ is Risen!
There is an interesting phenomenon in Latvia, despite that religion is becoming weaker worldwide, religion in Latvia is getting more popular, stronger and affecting people's everyday life more than before.
On the picture: a continued bulding of new Orthodox Church in Daugavgriva. Two cupolas are still on the ground.
Victor Enrich is the name of modern artist from Barcelona, who is making surreal photos of different cities.
His works made my brain go crazy trying to understand how some of the pictures are composed, because of its misleading simplicity, reverted street angles and buildings.
Other his works can be found in the artist gallery.
BTW, each of the works is being sold in a very limited number of copies, usually just 1 copy.
...and I got my own ;)
This creative picture was found on Riga's future development website, and I couldn't resist not to publish it, because this futuristic view of Riga is so intriguing! :)
I hope Latvijas Tilti will do their job fast and without scandals like it did happen with Sothern Bridge.
New Highway is being built between Ciekurkalns and Sarkandaugava. It will be part of the future Riga Inner Ring road and together with North tunnel it will connect Riga West and East side under Daugava river. Good example of Riga development.
A future prospect advertisement of Tekstiliana project in Tornakalns area. Housing estate Tekstialiana is going to be built in place of old textile mill. BTW, the office of building owner Capitolia is located at Kugu iela 26, in the house which was renovated from bakehouse.
Huge foundation pit of one of the buildings in Riga center. For now, I have no idea what is going to be built between Dzirnavu and Blaumana streets. Let's keep eye on it :)
Unfortunately, I didn't took a shot when the foundations of Latvian National Library were laid. But I still continue making shots from the same position as one year before. This picture was taken around begin of October 2008. Have a look how it was in November 2007 January 2008 March 2008 Or all pictures of LNB Building together.
Seems that to build a tall skyscraper, you have to dig a deep hole before. Soon here will be a Z-Towers. Z-Towers it is 2 skyscrapers for different purposes. For now here is 25-30 meters deep pit. Actually, 4 months before here was the same pit, but not so deep :)
This is a building of two new skyscrapers in Pardaugava (Over River) neighbourhood. They build even in night time, so very soon Riga landscape will be changed :) Take a look at Z-Towers after 4 months.
