My second panoramic photo (please use horizontal scrollbar to see the whole picture) of the abandoned border-crossing point between Latvia and Lithuania called Būtingė - Rucava, which was visited during my trip to Nida.
This is a Latvia's exit point, therefore the last photo of this trip in this blog. Please check next photo at Klaipeda at my Vilnius' blog or go back to Liepaja
Pāvilosta is a small coastline town in Kurzeme, which can visited on the way between Ventspils and Liepaja.
Please use scrollbar above to see the whole panoramic photo of beach, river Saka and port.
During travelling you can see a many unusual things, for example this car-carrying trailer full with vintage automobiles.
This photo was taken somewhere between Irbene and Ventspils.
I came to ghost town Irbene to make a better photo of Radiotelescope RT-32, but again I was unlucky
The antenna's site was closed, therefore I could take a photo only from remote road, which is not so good again.
Photo was taken on my way to Neringa between Kolka and Road to Ventspils.
Roja, a small fisherman town in Kurzeme, has the entrance road sign very similar to the one, which is in Riga.
This photo was made right after photo of mole and before Kolka.
Moles aka breakwaters are very common structures seen on Latvian coast (e.g. Riga's Mole) and almost all of them are quite romantic, but sometimes dangerous place for promenade.
This one was photographed in Roja on my way from Mersrags to Roja's exit and entrance sign
The harbour in a small fisherman town Mērsrags, which is located on the coast of Riga's gulf.
This is an experiment work created by stitching many small photos by Hugin software into single panoramic photo.
Check for previous stop in Engure or continue to Rojas mols
Floating Dock, which is moored in Engure's port, is a 2 deck barge suitable for living.
This photo was made during my coastal ride between Apšuciems and Mersrags
The building of new Sea Monitoring Tower in Apšuciems, which is located at Kuplā priede camping site.
Check the previous stop in my seaside route Ragaciems and Engure Harbor.
Travelling around the world I understand that beaches in Latvia are ones of the most beautiful in the world.
White sand, blue skies and almost no annoying insects. Unfortunately they are like this only few months per year :(
This is the next photo after my stop in Jaunkemeri. The next is Kupla priede Tower.
Cape Kolka is extreme geographical point of Latvia and one of Lativan nature monumenets.
It marks the border between Baltic Sea and Riga Gulf, unfortunately every year Cape Kolka is getting smaller and smaller because of being eaten by the Baltic Sea.
Kurzeme (Courland) is one of the three historical regions of Latvia. It is the richest and the most western region. In the Golden age of Kurzeme, it was an autonomous duchy under Polish rule with own colonies in Western Africa and Caribbean Sea, for example Tobago used to belong to Kurzeme.
Tobago Casino is located in the basement of Hotel Riga, but it is closed since 2008 already. The reason why I write about this forgotten place is its name Tobago, an island in Caribbeans. Not many people know that predecessor of Latvia, The Duchy of Courland, was the owner of this colonial island in 17th century and settled it. In other words, Latvia was one of the first colonizers of Americas.
