Temporary Riga photos are being published not in a regular manner due to blog author has moved to Vilnius.

Vi Menn

Vi Menn
Maybe you know Vi Menn, the most popular men's lifestyle magazine in Norway and Scandinavia in general.
I didn't know it before they contacted me in order to get copyrights for my photos and publish them along with scandalous article about sex tourism in Latvia.
It was very pleasant to see my Sin City photo at coversheet of Norwegian Playboy, which is being read by more than half a million of people offline every week ;)

Modes Brokastis

Modes Mrokastis
Last weekend walking in Galerija Centrs shopping mall, I was a witness of the real TV show recording.
Maybe they got kicked out from their studio because of extremely beardly guest? :)

Interview

Interview
Running blog Riga Photos for almost 3 years I didn't make any money, but I have met a lot of interesting people :)
Recently I was invited by some Baltic Japan magazine for interview, which was held this week in panoramic bar.
The main discussion topic with Uldis (pictured) were my Riga Daily Photos and the reasons of taking them :)

It was built in 1939 as the most tallest building in Riga, except churches and VEF Tower.

Ne dienu bez Rīgas

Ne dienu bez Rigas - Rigas Laiks
Ne dienu bez Rīgas - is the title of an article about my blog in local magazine Rīgas Laiks (Riga Times)
This is the first review of my blog by offline media known to me. Despite very short article, I feel very proud because of it.

Here below is the full text of article:

The literal translation in more popular language:

Let no day without Riga

It is carefully maintained exciting photoblog, which get updated every day with a new photograph of Riga or surrounding and a small comment about it.
Photos and comments are not always flattering for Latvia, but the author (who doesn’t publish his identity) can’t be accused of intentional defamation.
The target audience is foreigners who have decided to visit the capital of Latvia or still are thinking about it. The image of the city is made to be beautiful, strange, intimidating or even threatening - exactly like it is in real life.
Sometimes the author provoke readers to comment by asking if anyone does know Estonian language and the meaning of Perses street in it, or expressing guess that somewhere else in the world are houses with double house numbers (Barona Street 59/61).
Also here are the links to Riga related sites and webcams, which show the city in real time.

Iran - Latvia Relations - Theme

Ambassador of Iran Rasoul Eslami and President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers
I guess you would like to ask me what kind of relations are you talking about? There aren't any relations between Iran and Latvia And you will be right.
I've been looking for an hour for anything that depicts something related to Latvia and Iran in one picture. All I have found is the low quality official video of accreditation Iran ambassador.

Why?
Today is the extraordinary city theme day, which is devoted to the latest events in Iran and especially to my colleague who run Tehran Daily Photo. He is missing.

Updated: the next day Amir was released without any comments.

Kiosk

Kiosk selling avizes and zurnali
No, this is not an internet kiosk, but simple newsstand which was very common for Riga in 1990s.
Nowadays it is rarity, and I didn't see any of them in Latvian capital for a while. This one is left in 100km from Riga in a small country town called Dobele.

Writing on top of the kiosk in Latvian Avīzes - Žurnāli means Newspapers - Magazines

Atbalsti savējos

TB/LNNK political advertisement Atbalsti savejos
Remember those burglars which were crawling like spiders on the Press' building?
They had been putting banner of extremely right-wing party TB/LNNK with slogan Atbalsti savējos (Support yours)
[Un]fortunately huge sheet was blown to tatters, just after several hours they put it :)
I personally don't like neither extremely right nor extremely left wing political parties.
Also, check TB/LNNK quite funny provocative video (with Russian subtitles)

House of Press

House of Press in Riga
Despite its big size, this building is out of use. It is ex-building of Press agencies in Riga.
Last 2-3 years it isn't used anymore, so it is just awaiting for demolition :(
For now this is the one of the tallest buildings in Riga, and it's located next to Saules Akmens building.
