Heavy shower flooded Riga today; the storm torn branches off the trees, so many streets, roads became blocked.
Thankfully it was very short rain, hence the traffic was limited just for some hours.
The picture was taken this Sunday afternoon on the exit from Riga Airport.

Zelta Zivtiņas tunelis is a pedestrian tunnel under 13. Janvara street.
Named after Zelta Zivtina (Gold Fish) mobile prepayment card, owned by TELE2.
A good mural design made this tunnel more lively and colorful, especialliy during grey autumn.

Grey weather - Grey House.
This house is a good example of Riga Art Nouveau Architecture style.
Building address is Kalku iela 15, in Old Town, just next to McDonalds.

First McDonald's in Riga was opened in 1994. Today it is biggest McDonalds's restaraunt in Latvia.
On the very left Laima Tower Clock, the popular meeting point.

Empty chairs during Sash! concert at Ogres Estrāde (Ogre stage) is result of rain, but not a marketing failure
It should be noted that despite bad weather Sash! gathered several thousands of people.

Kaļķu iela (Chalky Street) is the main street in the Old Town.
It starts by the Blackheads Sq. and runs till Aspazijas Blvd passing a lot of shops, cafes, clubs and hotels. It turns into Brivibas blvd.
The name Kalku derieves from the old times, when the houses on the street where made from limestone and people walking by often got dirty their clothes with chalk :)
Kalku street is one of Riga's most touristy streets, with lots of entertainment and souvenirs sold.
On Kalku Street you can often meet such persons: Dancing Granny and Playing Grandpa :)
Traffic through the street is particular forbidden.

Overcast days in Riga are often as in London :)
Krišjāņa Barona street is parallel to Brivibas Street, and is one of the major and longest streets in Riga Center area. Kr. Barona Street is famous for many shops and shopping centers located on it.
Its named for Krišjāņis Barons, who became famous for collecting Latvian folk songs.
The street starts from Aspazijas boulevard, passes described Radio street, Merkela Street, and many others until the VEF Bridge, where Kr. Barona street joins to Brivibas Street.

airBaltic is national Latvian airline.
Flights are quite cheap and service is relative good. airBaltic has more destinations than any other airline operating in Riga Airport, so I choose it almost always when I travel abroad.
Since today I have holidays and I am going to Istanbul for New Year celebration among my international friends.
As far as possible from the routine life! :)
