24 School
Russian Secondary School #24 was opened in 1987 on Caka iela, just next to Riga monastery.
Unfrotunately I couldn't find anything special or interesting about this school, except basic data like...
Official name is Рижская основная школа №24 in Russian or Rīgas 24. pamatskola in Latvian.

Dobroe Utro Katja (Good Morning Katja) is a very old graffiti in Maskachka neighborhood.
It is written in Russian using Latin letters. Such way of writing Cyrillic letters is sometimes called Crazy Russian.

Ленинград

Ленинград (Leningrad) is one of the most controversial places in town. It has Soviet name, but popular only among Latvians, who mostly hate everything what is related to Communism and the its age itself.
All this affects very alternative atmosphere inside. The inside design is worth of separate photo.
The writing Ленинград in Russian over the windows is almost invisible, because it is forbidden to name places in Russian Language in Latvia. And it is the only case I met Russian name of place in Riga.

Question to Western visitors, do you know what is the name of Leningrad city since 1991? :)

Bivouac

Bivouac
Bivouac (Bivak) is the name of the event devoted to historical reconstructed battles, which was being held in Daugavgriva fortress this weekend.
A lot of soldiers wearing historical uniform of Swedish, Russian, French, German and other armies of 18-20 centuries inspire the feeling of being moved back for many years by time machine.

It is terminal station of Train Riga - Moscow, and hence it is directly connected with Riga Central Station :)
There are not too many objects outside of Latvia, which contain word Riga in its name, so I guess I have good chances to cover them all in this blog as well :)

Play Off

Riga Dinamo Play-off game
I guess this season's last game of Dinamo Riga at home was finished some minutes ago.
Dinamo managed to get into KHL Play-off and won the strongest team SKA Saint Petersburg in eighth-finals.
In quarter-finals we faced MVD Balashikha, and the current series' score is 1:3, which means nearly end for us.
In any case it was a brilliant season for Riga Dinamo. Next KHL season will be even more interesting with new teams, new countries. Good Luck Dinamo!

Ты не одна

Ty ne odna
Ты не одна (You are not alone) was recently written on the roof of almost collapsed building in Kliversala area.
I guess this phrase is continue of AB Dambis writings, which are just few hundreds meters from this building.
The same color, font, style and the way to express feelings of love. I want to love somebody like he does.

Пушкин

Pushkin statue at Riga
Last week was a monument opening ceremony of the most famous and high-minded Russian author Alexander Pushkin (Александр Сергеевич Пушкин), who was shot in the age of 38 (1799 - 1837)
Pushkin had a fabulous life and was recognized as genius during his life already. He wrote many chefs d'oeuvre, basically he has changed the Russian literature.
It was difficult to take a picture of statue without people nearby, because a lot of people were constantly coming here, to Kronvalda parks to see bronze Pushkin.
