I hope Latvijas Tilti will do their job fast and without scandals like it did happen with Sothern Bridge.
Recent years all the Riga media talks and writes so much about ugly Soviet architecture in city and that it all must be refurbished or demolished at all. And what we see?
A newest pedestrian tunnel under crossroads of 13 Janavara and Gogola iela, which was built in late 2009.
Ķīpsala Tunnel is connecting two parts of Kipsala island-neighborhood through Vansu Bridge. The tunnel is city-wide famous for its rich graffiti collection. See the photo collection of tunnel graffiti.
A couple of pedestrian tunnels were opened in Riga for the last month. One of them is Tunnel in Daugavgriva. The tunnel goes under Railway, just few meters from Daugavgriva railway bridge. It looks like building is going very fast, but in fact the whole project took more than one month.
Enigma is one more blacklisted club in Riga. This place change name so often, that you can't track all of them. The most recent former names of this place were Puzzle and Pink Panther.
Gate to medieval city was built in wall which was sometimes up to 2 meters wide. The medieval version of Riga's Coat of Arms can be found on top of the gate. See also Riga Scutcheon, which remained almost untouched till now.
Zelta Zivtiņas tunelis is a pedestrian tunnel under 13. Janvara street. Named after Zelta Zivtina (Gold Fish) mobile prepayment card, owned by TELE2. A good mural design made this tunnel more lively and colorful, especialliy during grey autumn.
Zviedru vārti (Swedish Gate) is one of Old Town sights, located next to another one famous Riga sight Jacob's Barracks. Swedish Gate was one of the eight gates in Riga Defensive Wall. This gate was built in 1698 making way through already built house. All gates in Riga were opened at sunrise, and closed down at sunset.
This is composition of graffiti from Hanza tunnel, which is located under Kipsala island, next to Hansa Building :) In the beginning it was very nice place, decorated with graffities. But then after come some vandals. Actually they was other graffiti artist, but who wasn't invited to decorate this tunnel (for reward of course). So they was upset and started to damage graffities with some stupid slogans like:
