Usually I see similar pictures in music clip scenes about some famous American rockstars, but I didn't expect to see such abundance in Riga :) In this hangar are five small private planes like Cessna 172 and additional free space for the sixth one.
I must say thanks to all of you, my visitors. And say special thanks to the following guys:
Angela from Australia
Toby from Indiana

Kim from Scotland
Martine from France
A C Johnson from England
Raffaele from Italy
Line from Denmark
Roman from North Carolina
Andreas from Germany (the largest contribution)
Petteri from Finland
These fellas helped me to buy Canon PowerShot SD4000 IS aka IXUS 300HS, which is the best pocket camera in the world at the moment. Unfortunately it is the most expensive as well :) In any case your donations were the best feedback for my 3 years long project Riga Photos!
Psst.. you are always very welcome to drop some coins and your help is very appreciated. Please donate :)
Club First Dacha or simply First Club is one of the most prestigious nightlife places in Riga. It is located in Andrejsala harbour, which is quite remote area from all other party places in Riga, hence here are no random visitors, if you don't have a yacht, of course :) I couldn't take a good picture during the night, therefore here is the morning after dark.
The building of Riga School #40 was built in 1905 in Art Nouveau architecture style as apartment building The school's history started in 1946 when it was opened under number 79. After 6 years, in 1952 it was renamed to Riga 40th School (see former 40th School). Rīgas 40. vidusskola is famous for its good education. A lot of rich children are being educated here, e.g. the son of the former Latvian Prime Minister Godmanis is studying here as well.
Despite being very expensive Patrick Hellmann Collection (aka PHC) has the cheapest fashion website ever. I like this photo because of depicting the lively nature of motion and Riga traffic. It reminds of New York, isn't? :) See also Emporio Armani shop in Riga.
Skyline is a prestigious Riga bar on 26th floor of Hotel Latvia. Despite being located on Riga top, Skyline's prices are quite affordable even for students like I am :) It is a good place to bring foreign guests in order to show the whole Riga city at once. Check the panoramic view from Skyline.
Another very useful fact to know about Riga is that almost all shops have full working day even on Sundays. Shopping in Riga couldn't be compared to Milan or New York, but some of the popular brands like Giorgio Armani have their representative stores in Riga as well. This Emporio Armani shop is located on the cross of Elizabetes and Baznicas streets.
I didn't know before that Riga Pine is famous even outside of Europe. I knew that Latvian Pine tree was always exported for ship masts, but couldn't imagine that to Latin America too. Thanks to Antonio from Brazil, who commented my blog and exposured me this fact.
Did you know that Riga has one of the highest density of blond females? Last Sunday on 31st of May was the first March of Blondes, which has gathered several hundreds of nice blond girls. Everyone must see this event for himself, so come to Riga next year and take some blond girl with you as well ;)
Doma Antikvariāts (Dome Antique dealer) and nice Brasserie outside located at Herder square in Old Town. Take a look at the custom license plate of BMW 645CI Convertible :)
In Botanical Garden people gone crazy because of beautiful blossoming Rhododendron. The spring and especially May is the most perfect time to visit Riga Botanic garden.
Few years before the price of custom car license plate in Latvia was just 500 Ls (700 EUR) and every self-respecting driver had bought one or even two :) Now they made it 2000 Ls (~2800 EUR) and such extra became the sign of wealth again. Otherwise every second car would have some random text instead of serial number.
Русская Библиотека (Russian Library) is the only place in Riga where books in Russian language are in plenty. Due the lack of room the books had been placed in organized piles. These book columns are so tall as to reach the ceiling. No space for Bookworms, no space for new books, even no space to put my camera to take a good shot ;) Unfortunately Russian books will not have any place in currently building National Library, because it will be Latvian one.
Try to remember the number plate of this Riga Corvette waiting for the green light on Brivibas iela. I think 6GB85S9 is a good choice for a get away driver :)
Couple days ago Relics of Saint Andrew (Мощи святого апостола Андрея Первозванного) were delievered to Riga Orthodox Cathedral. Thousands of believers were gathering day and night around Cathedral to see and venerate the Saint Relics. It is a big event for any church in the world to be given the honour of holding this Relics.
Latvia has made one more Guinness Record. Since now we are the holder of the longest dance in the world. It's mean that 2208 people took each other's hand and performed Gatves deja (Broad Road Dance) dance. This event was timed to 90th Anniversary of Latvia.
riga.in is not created to make any money and it is true non-profit project, but still it takes a lot of resources, e.g. camera, domain, etc. If you like Riga Photos and would like to help to make it better, then you are very welcome to make a donation
