Modern Roman Catholic Church

The building of Holy Trinity Church looks so modern, so I thought it is a residence of some new movement sect.
For a wonder it is Roman Catholic Church, the same as the Virgin of Anguish Church in Old Town.
Interesting fact is that almost a half of Riga population practise christianity, however despite 128 Riga religious institutions, only 3% of Rigans regularly attend services.

There are more modern constructions of Roman Catholic Churches due to an iniciative by the II Vatican Council (in the 60's, the one that promoted that masses should be held completly in the local language rather than Latin) that promoted churches to be "blended in with the neighborhoods", and that includes using their architecture. Here there are plenty of modern churches.
Heavenly photo of a beautiful, modern church! The cross is like a beacon to the community!
Hi, greetings from Australia. A striking photo - very unusual architecture, especially for a Church. Yet it works well, mainly I think due to the contrast of colour. Terracotta of the walls and silver/grey steeple. The gold Cross stands like a beacon.
I lived in neighbourhood for a year. This church looks strange, but there are splendid paintings inside. I recommend seeing it.
I just got back from my first visit to Riga and I saw this Church everyday. It is near Plavneiki, not too far from Maxima, McDonalds etc.
Oh wow - i also though it is some new movements place... But i guess it makes sence to have a church like that in Plavnieki where most of the buildings are built during soviet times. I guess old style church built with use of all canons would look more than strange in this place.
I like the Architectural design of the front view of the church. I wish to attend Christmas mass service there, this December.
Does any one know how the Christmas festivities looks like in Riga?
