Latvian Army

Military parade of Latvian Army at Riga embankment in honor of 91st Independence Day.
It seems that recently Latvia has visibly improved its armed forces with new equipment. I wonder why...
Also I always wonder why forested country has army wearing desert camouflage uniform :)

The pick-up truck certainly isn't new. The body style of this truck is from the mid 1980's.
.50 machine gun dates from WWII ! Not really brand new .....
Only few soldiers wear desert uniforms, probably to show that Latvia is involved in Afghanistan.
What do you want to prove in writing wrong assessment about Latvian Army ?
its seems like he is one of this pro russsians.and yes I agree that your knowledge is really poor.
I wouldn't criticise the fifty cal machine gun. Awesome weapon sniper capacities etc so its little wonder its still in use.
As for desert uniforms? The body count for Latvian soldiers stands at three dead in Iraq. They are our allies in Iraq so deserve some respect.

It is because Latvian army buys a lot of second hand equipment. Especially from USA,Germany and some other NATO allies. The thing i never understood was why do they need so much old junk? Isnt it better to have less but better quality?
