Probably this will be really useful information for those of You who are planing to visit Riga really soon.
Riga isn't too big city comparing to other capitals in Europe. Most of tourist attractions are concentrated in the center of Riga - Old Town.
But if you'll check my previous posts you'll see a lot of great places outside the center. How to get there? Sure, you can use public transport.
But if You can afford to rent a car - go for it!
I recommend to use www.rigacars.com car rental services. You can easily find perfect car just for your budget! You can find any small, simple and cheap car, for example, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Getz, etc.
Or You can go for luxury class and rent SUV's or even cabrio, like, Land Rover Range Rover Sport or BMW 730.
Their office is situated just on the way from the airport to the city center. Also they can pick you up at the airport with your rental car, if you want to! Their professional staff will always try to fulfill all your needs!
The best thing about them (and that's why I made this article) is that they offer limousine rental in Riga. OK, you'll say, what's special about this limo rental service?
You can rent a really rare Cadillac Escalade Limo for some special events of your life (wedding, bachelor parties etc.).
I don't know specific price, but you can simply request the price by phone or email. Read more »
Since a couple of years it is illegal to drive through Dome Square, but many drivers still don't know it and get caught by police, which always is very helpful and show you the right direction, especially if you are sitting behind the wheel of the new expensive car.
My second panoramic photo (please use horizontal scrollbar to see the whole picture) of the abandoned border-crossing point between Latvia and Lithuania called Būtingė - Rucava, which was visited during my trip to Nida.
This is a Latvia's exit point, therefore the last photo of this trip in this blog. Please check next photo at Klaipeda at my Vilnius' blog or go back to Liepaja
Liepāja International Airport is one of 3 major airports in Latvia, but currently it has no regular flights.
I couldn't miss the opportunity to take photo of this small airport on my way from Pavilosta to Lithuanian border
During travelling you can see a many unusual things, for example this car-carrying trailer full with vintage automobiles.
This photo was taken somewhere between Irbene and Ventspils.
When I saw a brutal skyscraper in New York with no windows, I told to myself WTF? :)
At that moment I didn't know that in Riga we have something similar. This building technically is only 2 floor high, but it could fit more than 5, and has absolutely no windows.
This building is a huge device and serve as center to control electricity supply around the city.
It is not a photo, but technology constantly goes forward, so I have started to experiment with videos :)
Please check my first timelapse video taken last rainy monday on the way to Vilnius from Riga.
Huge Boeings and small airplanes always fascinate me. I can watch them landing and taking off infinitely long. Actually there is even a legal status of this hobby called planespotting :) The best place for aircraft spotting are top floors of Panorama Plaza. Does anybody rent out a flat there? :)
Go Planet is an entertainment complex in Purviciems. It was opened in 2005 and instantly had a lot of customers, although nowadays it is struggling to survive because of lack of visitors.
Pļavnieki (Fields) is the most densely populated neighbourhood in Riga. The territory of future Plavnieki was incorporated into Riga in 1974, and formed its South-East city border. Nowadays around 50,000 people call this ultra-Soviet area as their home.
A nice eclectic building is located on the crossroads of Avotu and Lāčplēša streets. It was built in 1898 as apartment house with stores on the ground floor.
Municipal Police department in Purvciems 2 was opened 25 years ago in December 1985. It is quite famous because it was bombed by mafia in the middle of 90s The absence of the black tiles are scars, which are left since that bloody bombing.
