Zolitūde

Zolitūde (from French Solitude) aka Zolik is Soviet type neighbourhood on the Riga West Side. Formerly was planned as an extension of adjacent Imanta suburb, with the code name Imanta 6, after Imanta 5.
As many other Soviet style areas, Zolik was specially designed to resist a nuclear blast during threatening atomic warfare. This is why all buildings placed in special order to protect themselves.

That is an interesting design. Nice photo!
That is indeed very interesting to learn something new. I find the layout of the homes and buildings very eye catching in this aerial shot.
Interesting concept. I wonder if it would work although I hope no one ever has to find out.
I lived in one of those houses for 10 years, and this place is very dear to my heart, I see it in my dreams a lot, it will be 15 years since I moved. The design was pefect, we walked to school, grocery store etc. It was our little world. Miss you Zolitudes!
