Restoration of Independence

Today, on the 4th of May, is the day of adoption of the Declaration of independence of Latvia.
Basically it is the day when Latvia left Soviet Union and became independent again.
Many people in Latvia consider this day as the end of Occupation of Latvia.
On the photo you can see the Museum of Occupation of Latvia decorated to celebrate the occasion

It seems to be a really good day to have it as a day off. I bet the weather was really good.
"Many people in Latvia consider this day as the end of Occupation of Latvia"
Yes. Many people do. And so does the government. So does EU, USA and UN.
While some people don't, because they deny that the occupation ever was.
"Deniers". Sounds familiar?
Funny. :)
