Gray Tunnel
Recent years all the Riga media talks and writes so much about ugly Soviet architecture in city and that it all must be refurbished or demolished at all. And what we see?
A newest pedestrian tunnel under crossroads of 13 Janavara and Gogola iela, which was built in late 2009.

blatantly awful
What's awful there? Tunnel as a tunnel. Did you expected artworks and paintings like in Moscow metro? This tunnel was built by Stockmann - and what did you expected knowing how Stockmann building looks itself? :) But if the tunnel would be built by taxpayers money then it also would look similar because media and the public would guillotine an official who would spend more money on design. But seriously - who and where builts beautiful tunnels nowadays? Have been in several European cities and haven't seen better tunnels there than this one.
