Zemitānu tilts

Zemitānu tilts is a bridge connecting Center and Purvciems over Zemitanu Railway Station.
It was opened in 1985 under the name of Soviet communist Otomārs Oškalns. Although since 1991 it is holding the current name of the small Latvian village next to Lithuanian border.
According Riga development plan Oškalnu tilts was supposed to have tramways, but it is still not realised.

Everything has its time.

Very bad that bridge changed i's name, never mind if Otomars was communist,as i see in his name he was Latvian. It is funny that bridge after his name, now called after unknown tiny village.
Also this name is from concrete family. Jorģis Zemitāns is a hero from war of independence http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jor%C4%A3is_Zemit%C4%81ns , the train station has his name.
Egīls, thank you a lot for clarification. It is always pleasing to know something more :)
