Kārlis Ulmanis

Kārlis Ulmanis was one of the most notable Latvian persons. Smart politician and wise governor.
Actually he is the one of few who gain independency for Latvian people.
He is the one, who was not afreaid to dissolve parliament and take control over country. And he was doing the right thing. During his 6 years of rule Latvia was in its golden age.
Unfortonutely, he died as many other Latvian élite people, in exile.

I hope that whatever good he did for your country was not destroyed by the politicians that came after him. That happened a lot to the Philippines and we are still struggling with bad government and politics today.
I don't believe in golden age of dictatorship.
first of all, he didn't gain any independence for the country - HE LOST IT :)

"hope that whatever good he did for your country was not destroyed by the politicians that came after him" - oh yes, it was. And he himself was to blame.

"he didn't gain any independence for the country - HE LOST IT :)" - learn the history. He did both - (1) he gained the independence; (2) he gave it away to Soviets without a fight, though he had little choice.
