House of Wood

A typical Riga building for the end of 19 century. There are still a lot of such two storey wooden houses in some Riga areas like Agenskalns, Ciekurkalns, Tornakalns and Zasulauks.
It is very rarely, when such houses are with all conveniences, so the pricing for flat rent in such house is quite low.
This one is located on Kapselu street, Agenskalns.

interesting building and nice photo. I also loved your Blue Bridge ohoto.
Nice looking building, it has some nice details on its facade. I guess as long as it has running water and is warm is all that matters in an apartment.
I love these old buildings. When you say it may lack "all conveniences," are you talking about what I think you're talking about - what I used to have to use as a kid when visiting my grandmother in northern Minnesota in the winter?
Yes. A simple hole in the floor to do your dirty things. Sometimes even outside the house. Running water is not available in many of those houses as well.
