-21°C

This night in some Riga suburbs like Airport the temperature was -27°C (-17°F), but in the center it was only -19°C (-2°F). At 9 o'clock in the morning in Teika I took this picture and it still was -21°C (-6°F). It is absolute record this winter.
When it is lower than -15, the children are allowed not to go to school, so all tramways are half empty today ;)

it was -28 in Daugavpils yesterday :)
"Only -19" !!! looks like I choosed the coldest week to come to Latvia
My God! We had zero degrees here in Barcelona, 3 weeks ago, and the newspapers were talking about a 'siberian cold wave'. Some people died of cold.
I would like to come and share that cold with you all ;)
Several weeks ago it would still feel very cold, but now I'm adapted to this winter as much, that even these minus 20 doesn't seem too cold anymore.

Hey, would you be so kind and write something more about the old building on the left side of this pic? thanks, m.
Hello MARCIN, long time passed since I saw your last comment :)
This building is called VEF Pils
We have got the same low temperatures in Poland and lots of snow. It must be one of the coldest winters like I remember. But when is so cold air is fresh, I love that.
In Vilnius airport it was "only" minus 24,7, but life goes on normally.
Except that here young pupils (1st to 5th class)have to wait a temperature below minus 20 in order not to go to school. For olders it's minus 25 !
Personally I experienced a colder winter, in 2005 - 2006, when it was below minus 20 during ten days, with one morning at minus 30. But this 2009 - 2010 winter is not yet finished, we can expect to break the record!....
great photograph!!!
Thanks for Vef Pils! :-) I stayed in Teika during the New Years' period last/this year :-)
