It is not a photo, but technology constantly goes forward, so I have started to experiment with videos :)
Please check my first timelapse video taken last rainy monday on the way to Vilnius from Riga.
Zelta Paradīze (Gold Paradise) is a jewelry shop in Old Town on Grecenieku iela. Huge icicles is the result of constantly changing weather last days. Now walking in town is more dangerous than ever.
Cleaning of tramways by trams themselves at Barona street. BTW, there is no Richmond store at the corner. Now it is cheap clothes store called Tridueks.
Kungu iela (Lord street) is a street parallel to Daugava river in Old Town, hence its former name Daugava street.
Another old name of this street is Siļķu iela (Herring street), which was derived from traders of fish used to gather here, because they were not allowed to trade at Market Square.
Today is snowing again, I guess 3rd time this year..
You never know where you will meet the first snow. This time for Zolitude :) Winter 2010 has been started relatively early and in fact it is mix of snow and hail. Riga become quite dirty now :(
Heavy shower flooded Riga today; the storm torn branches off the trees, so many streets, roads became blocked. Thankfully it was very short rain, hence the traffic was limited just for some hours. The picture was taken this Sunday afternoon on the exit from Riga Airport.
These days are burning hot in Riga. The LMT Office's thermometer is showing +35°C (95°F) It is more fun, when you look at the winter picture taken 5 months Ago in January, when it -21°C.
NASA satellite photo of winter in Latvia and neighbour countries Estonia, Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, Sweden. A short ice free strip in the gulf of Riga is made in order to make possible ferry traffic. Psst, Riga is in the very center :)
I have never thought that removing icicles and cleaning roofs from the snow is so important procedure. This year my flat on the last floor get flooded because of the rapidly melted ice and snow. And the insurance company says it's not their case . P.S. Check the angry guy on the most-left photo ;)
It is another nice photo taken from Swedbank office during Riga Smog in the end of January. On the photo it is clearly visible that smog was at level of 50 meters, basically the middle of Shroud Bridge
6 months passed since I posted the photo of the most interesting on-going building in Latvia. See the all time line of the LNB Building. Due all-winter-long abundant snowfalls, the snowdrifts are more than 1 meter high almost everywhere in Riga
