Rīgas Pirma Slimnīca

Rīgas 1. slimnīca (Riga First Hospital) founded in 1803 as Rīgas trūcīgo jeb nabagu slimnīca (Hospital for indigent or poor people) and at that time it operated just 50 beds.
During two centuries Riga Hospital was extended several times and become the largest hospital in Latvia. It is leader in the field of emergency preparedness and disaster management. It also offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. For comparison - today it operates more than 650 beds.
The main building is a good example of Art Nouveau architecture stlye and located where Skolas street meets Bruninieku street.

in a way this building remind me of the Technical University in Budapest
wonderful architecture. It's great that it's so well preserved and of great value to the city.
I'm surprised how good Riga looks on photos. When you walk around the city in your everyday worries, you don't notice how beautiful and unique this city is. ;)
Sadly but its closed now.Official version is of course crisis, bet there are rumours about corrupted mayor of Riga - Slesers, wants to own territory and building.
