Marijas iela

Marijas iela (Maria street) formerly Pleskavas iela (Pskov Street) is one of the main streets in Riga.
Marijas iela starts at Central station, runs several blocks and then turns into Caka iela.
It is not an unique case in Riga, when the same street has two names, one at the beginning and another one at the end.
At the foreground a pink Art Nouveau building is newly opened Nordic Hotel Bellevue.

Beautiful!
great shot!
This is a nice shot and it reminds me of some streets here that start with one name and then cross and intersecting road and take on a new name. I like your yellow buses.

now this photo reminds me my great time in Riga...thanks!!!
I was wondering if anyone could help me......my parents restore old homes.. some we buy fully loaded an have estate sales... in the house I found an old wooden carved wall plate... looks a plate) around the edge there are two symbols carved that repeat themselves.. the center of plate has. What looks almost midevil.... or castle like,,, or little villange with differ homes all having steepels with crosses on top..... painted... its very old on the back it says I believe 1914 then there was this writing I couldn't make out well since its done in pencil... but the letters I wrote down as I tried with a litht to figure out . I cam up with marijas iela or iles ?? I type it in on the computer an this place came up.. I can find any really old photos of the town to try an compare to theplate but I noticed both have lots of crosses.. there's I signature nard to make out... an then also a random other number with letter 117f and stuff whiped off... if anyone knows anythin about id be interested to know... thanks:).
It would be interesting to have look at it :) I will be definitely able to tell if it is from Riga or not.
At least from what I have read it seems to be from here.
Riga is always used to be associated with the city of churches and towers with crosses or roasters.
