Kurzeme (
Courland) is one of the three historical regions of Latvia. It is the richest and the most western region.
In the Golden age of Kurzeme, it was an autonomous duchy under Polish rule with own colonies in Western Africa and Caribbean Sea, for example
Tobago used to belong to Kurzeme.

No one sorts waste in Latvia, hence
public dumps look terrible and have a dreadful stench kilometers around.
I was quite surprised founding these 2 containers for waste recycling in a small village called Lapmezciems
In fact almost nobody use them, because the required public education program simply doesn't exist.

Tukums Airshow was held yesterday at
Tukums air base.
Such events are not often for Latvia, but unfortunately this one was overshadowed by small private
airplane catastrophe happened just before airshow openning. One person died and seven have severe injury.
Thankfully airplane crashed in some garden.

One of the
Riga Landfills is on the
way to Tukums. Basically this
dump located on some secondary road, to hide the real pollution of the local environment made by
waste materials.
When you stay in front this landfill, it seems to be endless..
And the smell.. this terrible smell spreads around.

Last weekend driving from Riga to Tukums could be seen such picture.
A semi-trailer truck felt down into ditch breaking several trees.
