Es tevi atkal gaidīšu te↓ (I will again wait for you here) - is the content of the massive message written with soil on the snowy track bench, which is next to 13 Janvara street. Check also other lovely messages: "I love you" and "You are not alone"
Ты не одна (You are not alone) was recently written on the roof of almost collapsed building in Kliversala area. I guess this phrase is continue of AB Dambis writings, which are just few hundreds meters from this building. The same color, font, style and the way to express feelings of love. I want to love somebody like he does.
A young couple kiss in the Riga central park. So romantic, huh :) BTW, today is 9.9.9 day, which was noted because of many weddings, the same phenomenon as the last year 8.8.8. day.
Children jumping off the train bridge at Daugavgriva every summer The writing in Estonian on the left pier means "A night with you is worth of the whole life"
Formerly this building was a gorgeous hotel in Jurmala. After the big fire in late 90s, hotel has been left untouched. Nice rooms with view towards Baltic Sea, beautiful outskirts, just 50 meters to the sea.
By the way, do not forget to send greetings to your mother. Today is the Mother's Day in Latvia :)
I always wonder how storks are making their nests. The stork nests are always so strong and well-balanced, so they are able to withstand any storm. Usually white storks come back to Latvia after winter migration in April and leave the country in late August. Interesting, in how many cultures the White stork is responsible for bringing babies into human family? :)
As almost everywhere else in the world, Riga is also get colored in red at 14th of February each year. Lovers and looking for love are celebrating Valentine's Day. This picture has been taken in Jelgava city at the international Ice Sculpture contest.
Yes, I know, today is already 9 march, but better late than never :) Yesterday in Latvia was a little bit controversial holiday. The kernel of the problem is that a lot of Latvians think that International Woman's Day is strongly related to Soviet past and vote down to make this holiday as an official day off. Despite this many people in Riga celebrate this holiday as the official one :) I found this social advertisement on the big screen in front of Central Railway Station. And sorry for the low quality :) The text is the poem about love of the famous Latvian poet Imants Ziedonis. See also 8 March in 2009.
St. Valentine's Day is being celebrated in Riga just for the last 10-15 years, since Latvia became Western-influenced country. A lot of lovers express their feeling by gifting flowers or some other other gifts like those Plush toys photographed in Olympia. I was told a legend, that this holiday was invented by French flower traders especially to increase their sales :) See also Valentine's Day in 2009.
Riga river Daugava is ice unbounded now :) There is a couple sitting on the stone footsteps. It is a true love if they are sitting there during such cold days. On Background you can see Railway Bridge, which is awesome decorated during nights.
